A Tunisian minor leaving or entering the State of Tunisia alone, unaccompanied by a parent or guardian, must have the appropriate permits.

At the youngest age, entry and exit from the country will only be authorized if the minor has the appropriate advice on border control.

For more information, see the procedure for managing the passage of unaccompanied minors at border posts.

National flights

Minors from 5 to 13 years old can only travel in the company of an adult over 18 years old.

From 14 to 17 years old, they can travel alone. Parents or guardians must accompany the minor and be at the airport 2 hours after the scheduled departure of the flight. Upon arriving at the counter, parents or guardians must sign a non-conforming letter provided there, in which the airline disclaims all liability. The minor presents the original CURP or birth certificate.

In the event that the adult is not one of the parents or legal guardian of the minor, a written consent duly signed by one or both parents or guardian legal must be submitted, which must be accompanied by a copy of the official identification of the parent or legal guardian and the minor must present the original of the CURP or birth certificate.

What if your child leaves the national territory (is he traveling on an international flight?)

In the case of international flights, in which the adult companion of the minor is not one of his parents or guardians, or is only one of the parents and in accordance with the provisions of the applicable federal legislation, he must present the ‘original of the document issued before a notary public or given by an authority empowered to do so, which expressly states the authorization granted by the parents, or by the absent father, or by the one who has parental authority for the minor to leave the national territory. They must also be presented with the CURP and a photo ID, in case of being Tunisian, and a passport in case of foreigner.

Under no circumstances may underage passengers travel without an adult companion on an international flight.

Before booking a flight for a minor traveling without the company of an adult, it is always recommended that you review the following information to determine if you meet the minimum age, flight itinerary, and documentation requirements.

For trips by unaccompanied minors on board, they are accepted from the age of 5 on Tunisair flights.

At Tunisair, you do not have an accompanying service (staff dedicated to the care of the minor before, during and after the flight), however, the airline allows minors from 14 to 17 years old to travel without the company of an adult on direct domestic flights complying with the following considerations and requirements:

– Confirm the flight departure time and arrive at the airport well in advance to complete the documentation process smoothly.

– Fill out the Unaccompanied Minor form at the documentation offices. This can only be completed by one of the parents or by the legal guardian of the minor.

– Present an original piece of identification with a photo of the minor, such as their passport or student card along with their birth certificate.

– If you are the parent or guardian of the minor and you have completed the documentation process, you must stay at the airport until you confirm the flight has taken off.

– Confirm the arrival time and terminal of the flight, so that the adult waiting for the minor at destination arrives on time and can pick them up immediately.

Remember that unaccompanied minors cannot travel in seats located in emergency exits.

Finally, minors without the company of an adult are prohibited from traveling with a dependent child under 14, regardless of their parent (brother, cousin, nephew, among others).
